At Sofina Foods Inc., the health and safety of our employees, our customers and communities, as well as the safety and quality of the food we manufacture are critical pillars of our commitment to sustainable practices.
In these uncertain and challenging times, Sofina Foods understands the essential role our company plays in ensuring the continued supply of safe, quality food to Canadians. All our employees are working closely with our vendors to ensure they maintain ongoing supply of the ingredients and equipment necessary for us to continue to manufacture the quality food you enjoy while maintaining all health and safety standards. We are also working with our customers to ensure store shelves remain full.
Sofina Foods Inc. is closely monitoring the evolution of the COVID-19 outbreak and working to prevent risks to our employees and our ability to continue manufacturing at a time when you count on us the most. We activated our Crisis Management Team whose role is to direct risk mitigation efforts and ensure readiness should the situation worsen. The steps we have taken at each of our sites include:
To date, we have no reported diagnosis of COVID-19 amongst our employees; our manufacturing facilities in Canada are operating as usual. In fact, our employees have rallied behind our unwavering commitment to food safety and quality while maintaining focus on health and safety to deliver food to all Canadians. We want to recognize and commend all our employees for their dedication, professionalism and passion despite a difficult context. We could not be prouder of our Sofina family!
The COVID-19 outbreak has had significant impact on businesses and people across the country. As a result, many Canadians are experiencing precarious conditions while food banks and food kitchens are facing unprecedented demand and low supply. The Sofina Foundation has continued to partner with foodbanks and local charities across the country, increasing our donations significantly over the last few weeks to help feed those who are experiencing hardship during these uncertain times.
We also want to highlight that there is no risk of contamination from food. Various agencies such as the Centre for Disease Control, the World Health Organization and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency have confirmed that: “There is currently no evidence that food is a likely source or route of transmission of COVID-19… There is currently no evidence to suggest that this virus is circulating in animals in Canada.”
Rest assured that product safety and quality remain paramount at Sofina. We will continue to go above and beyond to meet your needs for accessible, safe, quality food. While we channel our passion and expertise in making great products for you, we encourage you to care for each other:
We value your loyalty and remain committed to supporting our customers and consumers through this turbulent period.
