Markham, August 8th, 2016 – The Sofina Foundation hosted its ninth annual charity golf tournament, The Sofina & Amici Golf Classic on Thursday, August 4th at the Eagles Nest Golf Club in Toronto. The event raised a record $485,000 in support of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto (RMH). In addition, the Foundation was able to extend its reach across Canada and partner with the Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Alberta (RMHCNA).
“We are thrilled that the Sofina & Amici Golf Classic has now raised over $3 million to benefit such wonderful causes throughout the country,” said Michael Latifi, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Sofina Foods. “The ongoing testimonials we receive from the charities, and the families that benefit from their programs, are truly telling and confirm the positive impact the Sofina Foundation is able to bring to communities. This is our raison d’être and each year, our Foundation team strives to increase that impact.”
A portion of the funds will be donated to Sunnybrook’s Brain Sciences Centre and will be directed towards its Youth Mental Health Program. The balance of the funds will be shared among the Ronald McDonald Houses to support the School in Toronto and a redevelopment Kitchen project in Edmonton.
“This funding would not be possible without our generous donors who have supported us, year after year, to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and their families facing very difficult circumstances,” added Umeeda Madhany, Vice President, Sofina Foundation.
The Sofina & Amici Golf Classic will reach an important milestone next year when it celebrates its 10th year anniversary.
